Four new ISA All-Conference records were broken this past weekend at APAC. Rafael Gu of Shanghai American School - Puxi took down the 100m Backstroke, setting a new record of 57.03 while also smashing the 100m free record with a new standard of 49.49. The old record in the 100m Free was 51.13, a nearly two second improvement. Making this times even more remarkable is the fact that Mr. Gu is a 14 year old freshman. He has three more years to bring these records down even further.
The other two records were set in the 200m Free Relay and the 200m Medley Relay. In the 200m Free Relay, Shanghai American School - Pudong just got under their old record, with a new time of 1:37.23. The International School of Beijing shattered the old 200m Medley Relay record with a new standard of 1:47.22, nearly two seconds faster than the old record.
Congratulations on some fantastic swims!
A full write up of the APAC meet will be posted tomorrow along with the year to date rankings. More fast swimming is coming up this weekend, with the International School of Manilla hosting the IASAS meet January 31-February 2.
